Pasig Relief

Since my last email blast, I have received information from Elvira Oliva, one of my students at the Asian Theological Seminary (ATS), that their church was among those badly hit by Typhoon Ondoy. The Throne of Grace Fellowship situated in Sitio Kumunoy, San Miguel, Pasig has 40 families with babies and young children all in need of diapers, clothes and blankets. Another 60 families still camped out in the basketball court nearby (apparently the highest ground in the area) also have similar needs. Over the weekend I have been texting and posting on Facebook this need. Thankfully, friends quickly responded to the call for help. To date, I have received Php10,000 in cash designated to the purchase of baby needs and our living room has been stacked with donations. Tomorrow, we start repacking the goods so we could distribute them through the church on Thursday afternoon.

We hope to help this church become salt and light to its community despite the fact that it is still in waist-deep flood waters. Please pray for us as we undertake this relief work for 100 families in Pasig. My friends from GCF Ortigas, GCF North and the University of the Philippines have banded together to carry out this task.

I thank God for people who come alongside the suffering. I thank God for you.

(PS. Please continue to pray for Mang as he travels from one South Asian country to another for one more round of trainings, meeting up with secret believers there. He comes home end of this week. Thanks.)
