Discerning Kairos Moments:  Joining God Where He is at Work

Our days are short and our times are uncertain.  The world is beset by crises of different forms.  Yet the need for good leadership and good people influencing society has become more pronounced.  Times of crises are kairos moments or opportune times.  These are strategic opportunities to bring transformation and development through key people in society.

In the last quarter of 2008, God gave me (Grace) the vision to see influencers actualizing their full potentials, leading them to become agents of transformation in the workplace.  This, I believe could be done by equipping key people in the community towards holistic transformation in the areas of corporate, leadership, professional, and personality development trainings and research services.  My husband, Mang, has been extremely encouraging and expressed full support for this endeavor.  To me this was the first of many confirmations.  With promises from the Scriptures (Luke 1:37, 1 Chronicles 4:10, Psalm 146:3-5, Romans 10:11, Jeremiah 32:17), God gave me the courage to take one step of faith at a time.  As a result, the initial concept for a training and consultancy outfit named Kairos Training Network was born. 

The next crucial step was to have the entity registered with the appropriate government agencies.  In the process of registering with the Department of Trade and Industry, the name Kairos Training Network was disapproved because somebody else had taken it for the same nature of business.  I was instead advised to register Dousel Training & Consultancy because it also had a better appeal to the corporate world.  Furthermore, the DTI representative said that the name Dousel was so unique and was the only one in the entire country.  I smiled and thought, It’s because my husband is the only Dousel in this country!  Even while at the DTI office I prayed and inquired of God about the name.  His Spirit flooded my heart with peace and assured me that this was the way to go.  I then realized that the company may have our family name but God is still its owner.  It became clearer that this is God’s project and I am His servant in bringing more and more people to His kingdom.  He also assured us that He will take this beyond Philippine shores into creative cross-cultural missions work.

With this faith story, I give you a background of the ministry to the marketplace which God has given us.  I hope that you will be among Dousel Training & Consultancy’s strong partners in bringing holistic transformation to society. Trainings Offered:

Kairos B.E.S.T. (Business English Skills Training) is a four-level Business English Skills builder seminar/workshop on improving business oral communication skills, dynamic business writing, heightened business writing, and giving business presentations.  The trainings feature actual practice sessions, writing sessions, peer critiquing/editing and the learning by doing and dialogue training method.

Be a PRO! (Professionalism Training) is a three-level seminar/workshop on principles of professionalism, work ethics and transformational presence in the workplace.  These workshops include topics like exploring core values, personality development, fashion and beauty, image building, work practices, increasing work productivity, etc.  The training method features actual practice sessions, peer critiquing and learning by doing and dialogue.

English Grammar Builder Workshop--an intensive program, which aims to strengthen their grasp of the English language grammar.  This ten-module workshop will equip learners with tools that would enable them to construct grammatically correct sentences, leading them to write more effective paragraphs and compositions.

Oral Communication Skills Trainings are seminar/workshops on conversational English, interpersonal communication, effective communication, delivering oral presentations and cross-cultural communications.  These trainings are Conversational English Workshop, Interpersonal Communication Workshop and Public Speaking Workshop. 

Emerging Writers Workshops are writeshops that help aspiring writers find their style and niche in writing.  Depending on the desired program, the participants will learn either one of the following:  basic non-fiction writing, short story writing, poetry writing.  During the workshop, participants will immediately put theory into practice through actual writing sessions, peer editing and one-on-one consultation with the facilitator.  The most unique feature of the writeshops is a session on writing in English with an Asian perspective.

Newsletter Writing and Layout Training is a two- to three-day seminar/workshop that trains participants put together effective newsletters at a minimal cost.
