Creative Discipleship

Recently, we had the rare opportunity to be introduced to renowned artist, Ms. Dadai Joaquin. Sharing our vision for the youth of the Muslim urban poor communities, Dadai committed to conduct a ten-week (July 15-Sept. 16) art workshop for selected young people from Bucana, Isla Verde and Times Beach. The workshop will culminate in an exhibit (Sept. 30), which will showcase the raw and fresh talents of these young artists. We hope that as the youth avail of this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity, they will grow to appreciate their culture and look to the future with dignity despite their impoverished backgrounds. With God’s help, we hope to show these youth an alternative to the urban poor life they have always known. We hope that they will eventually experience life transformation that translates to the community’s transformation as well. Pray for Dadai who facilitates the workshops. Pray for Grace as she coordinates the project and for other team members (Maimai, Sol, Mang, Pascal & Kaye) who assist her. Pray for exhibit sponsors and a good venue (we are looking at a mall right at the heart of the city).

Your outreach to youth is truly wholistic. May your efforts pave the way for more ministry to the artistically inclined and aspiring artists in the people group being reached. I'll be very interested in seeing photos of their works. Could you post some? - Ate Joy
